Photos-Videos of the Accordion Player and the Children

My favorite place to go in Rome is the playground in my neighborhood. "Some of the children there are my grandchildren."

This week we saw an accordion player and I took a movie of him.
We posted a picture of me taking a video of him already.
Here is the accordion player.
And here is a photo of me dancing with the children.

We're posting the video so you can see how I can keep time to the music and film at the same time.

My dad also took some video of me dancing with the children. I like watching and listening to this too.

Every day I talk about going to Virginia. I am very excited to get home and go back to school.

Ciao,
Isabel

The Building with a Hole in the Ceiling and The Way Home

I posted a photo of the Pantheon before, but I wanted to do a separate post because I have more to show you. My dad and I went to see "The building with a hole in the ceiling" and to get gelato

I took out my camera and snapped a few photos, one of them was of the girl I found really interesting.

Then my dad and I took turns taking video of the ceiling. First I took a turn, then my dad held me in his arms and filmed the rotating view.

After getting gelato, we were trying to get home to see Mommy. Dad isn't familiar with taking the bus to our neighborhood in Testaccio, so he got sort of frustrated with how to get home from the Piazza Venezia. Lucky for him, there was a horse-drawn carriage right next to the bus stop and I had been really wanting to go for a ride the whole time we have been here. Dad got us home on time and I got a horse-ride.

Ciao,
Isabel

Video Posts from Roman Adventures

My dad and I went to the Villa Borghese this week. We had a picnic in a field and rode a bike togehter. I took a video from the bike to show you what it was like riding. I'll give you a hint, it was kind of bumpy.

Roman Adventures

I am still having a ton of fun with my babysitter Liz. We like to play dress-up. Do you like the hair-do I gave Liz? I do.

My dad and I went to the playground and we heard some music. We found an accordian player and I had a lot of fun dancing and listening to him. I took my dad's video camera to film the player. My dad took my camera and took this picture of me. Look for a video of the music later.

My dad and I went into "My favorite building in Rome." I love to go inside and sit down in churches. This one is special. My dad was trying to get me to take a picture of a Michealangelo sculpture, but I wanted to take a picture of these two nuns. I asked them for permission, and they wanted to have a picture with me in it. They were from Argentina and were really nice.

This is my photo of the "building with a hole in the top." Other people call it the Pantheon. Look for a video of this too.

Coming home from Tuscany

My mom wanted to stop to see the Etruscan Necropolis of Cerveteri. I was glad to get out of the car and walk around and take some pictures. I also got an ice cream at the end.

Here is a goat eating grass on the tombs dating all the way from the 9th Century BC. That’s pretty old, but the goats aren’t that old.

I wanted to take some pictures of "some very interesting things." I eat a lot of buttery noodles prepared on this stove.

My dad used my camera to take this picture of me on my bed with Duckie. I love Duckie!

Weekend in Tuscany I

My dad came to Rome and I took a picture of him before I hugged him for 15 minutes straight! He missed me too.

I climbed the highest tower in Sienna – the Mangia tower (1341) in the Palazzo Pubblico and took this picture so you can see how far we could see from the tower. We climbed 336 steps to the top.

I asked my dad to take a picture of me with Hannah and Griffin, my god-mothers kids. I love them.

Visiting Churches in Rome

One of the things my mom loves to do in Rome is visit churches.  We went back to visit Santo Stefano Rotondo, where we got rained on a few weeks ago. The church is round. I used my dad's video camera to walk you around the inside of the church.

After this church, we went to another one my mom loves. It is called the Ciesa dei Santi Quattro Coronati. We had to ring a bell to get inside this chapel. A nun let us in. The chapel dates from the 12th century, which is pretty old. I liked the floor.

Do you like circles? Look for the circles in these two churches.

Isabel in Ireland II

This is Lucy above the ocean. It was windy.

This is the ocean behind us.

This is picture that Lucy took of the necklace that she made me. I really liked it.

After the ocean, my mom, aunt and uncle took us inside, where there were kids playing (pool) and this old guy.

Isabel in Ireland I

My mom and I went to visit my uncle Chris, aunt Trish, and cousins Lucy and Alex last weekend. This is a picture down their road.

I really liked their dog Mindy, but maybe not being licked by her.

My cousins had lots of toys for me to play with at their house.

Alex liked my camera.

Isabel in Ireland

Dear all, Happy St. Patrick's Day. I've pirated Isabel's blog for just one session. Her pictures (and words) will return tonight, but I thought that my camera might do Western Ireland some justice. Here is Isabel with her cousin Lucy and Uncle Chris a few kilometers from their house in Ballina, County Mayo.

This is a view from down the coastal road of the windy cliffs and sea stack we visited on Sunday.

This is an old abbey not far from the top picture, near Ballina.

And this is the view from Ceide Fields, an ancient settlement where there are extensive archeaological excavations, but clearly the views out to the ocean take the cake. Isabel and I had a great visit with my brother, sister-in-law Trish and her cousins, Alex and Lucy.

In our hotel, we could climb up some stairs to go to the roof, and this is what we saw: the gardens where I played in Florence.

My mom took me to Uffizi and I was not happy when she left me to work, so Liz tried to cheer me up.

We found a merry-go-round, and I got to ride a horse.

Hi, here I am in Florence, maybe a little sleepy. Today I heard someone say in Italian, "e stanca (she's tired)," and I replied, "I'm NOT tired." Now I know what "stanca" means and use it to describe other people.
These are pictures that I took on Monday when my mom was working. Liz took me to a park behind a big house (Palazzo Pitti & Boboli Gardens).

I saw this baby bird egg on the ground.

After work, my mom wanted a snack. The man here gave me a really hard cookie.

This is a miniature church my mom to Liz and I to see. It was closed, but we could see it through the gate
We'll come back to see it another day.

We could see the whole city from where the church was. My mom held me up so that I could see over the wall. (Elena's compulsive art historical editing: this is Bramante's Tempietto on the Gianicolo [hill]).

The next place we went had horses in front of it. I want to ride horses.

I heard that some people wanted to see a picture of me, so my mom took this of me near at the organic market in Rome. I picked out some pasta and rode a bike, but it was a long walk home.

This is a picture of a ruin that Liz and I walked past in the Villa Borghese park.

This gate was in the courtyard of a palace off a really busy street. My mom and I went into the doorway to get out of the rain.

I'm not giving this elephant away. He's a special, special elephant at the zoo in Rome.

I really like these dumpsters around the corner from my apartment; there was a pink coat there last week, and it's my coat (my mother's editorial comment is that this last statement is not true).
